We’re islanders of several generations, so the nature of Saaremaa is strongly incoded to us – that’s also the reason why the hotel is strongly inspired by Saaremaa: memorable and versatile, yet simple and private.

Be prepared for the famous hospitality of the islanders, as Johan SPA Hotel started out as a family business. The story began with a family who fell in love with the historic building in Old Town Kuressaare and began to dream of welcoming guests who could comfortably stay in the heart of the town and discover the charm of Saaremaa.
This is how the Johan Hotel was opened in 1998. Today, our Standard rooms are located in this historic building.

We opened Johan SPA Hotel in October 2007 – a new building with Superior rooms, saunas, swimming pools, restaurant, conference rooms, beauty centre, outdoor pool, outdoor terrace and roof terrace. Johan Spa Hotel won the annual Kuressaare Architecture and Interior Design Award on the same year.
The apartments in our courtyard were completed in June 2017, primarily designed for families who appreciate the spaciousness and their own kitchenette.
